R. Chip Denief
Senior Minister

Bro. Chip is originally from the Black Hills of South Dakota. In 1985 he boarded a plane at Rapid City Regional Airport and landed several hours later in Lexington, Kentucky. Chip met his wife, Rita while attending Kentucky Christian College (now Kentucky Christian University in Grayson, Kentucky) and they celebrate 36 years of marriage in June of 2023. Chip and Rita have one son, Evan, who is a gifted graphic artist living in Franklin, Indiana. They are also blessed with a wonderful daughter-in-law, Kiersey, who is an elementary school teacher in Franklin. Evan and Kiersey have scored additional points in the birth of a beautiful grand-daughter... Violette Grace and 2 very joyful grand-sons... Lincoln James, and Milo Harrison.

Commiting to service as a minister of the Gospel while in high school, Chip was able to gain valued preaching experience through the graciousness of his minister, Mike Dennis, who often allowed him to preach, lead in youth groups and teach devotionals. Underscoring the responsibility of the task of preaching, Chip plans his preaching topics out for the entire calendar year (with eldership prayer support) addressing topics of relevance to modern living & growth in Christian faith. Chip has held ministries in Kentucky since 1985, ministering in Milford (Milford Christian Church) as youth minister, Johnsville (Fairview Christian Church) as the senior minister, Sherman (Sherman Church of Christ) as associate minister/minister of outreach and south of Williamstown (Stringtown Christian Church) as Senior Minister.

Rita, Chip's loving wife & best friend, is a retired teacher in the Madison County School system who enjoys Bible study and serving with the Pregnancy Help Center in Richmond, and also has her own home bakery business. Her beautiful smile warms the hearts of everyone she meets and her hugs provide encouragement as she greets everyone at the door with Chip. She is a valued partner in ministry with the Union City congregation, contributing in numerous 'behind the scenes' ways. Rita, who worked as a student recruiter at KCC, was the 2nd person with whom Chip spoke while considering attending KCC. Apparently, she was an excellent representative, because, not only did Chip attend KCC but they married just over 2 years after his enrollment.

Chip has been the Senior Minister for the Union City Christian Church since September of 2008 and enjoys preaching, teaching, assisting the Elders in pastoral care and many other areas of ministry with the Union City community. Chip enjoys playing banjo & guitar (recently learning to play the mandolin) reading & anything involving computer graphic design or traditional art. Every once in a while Chip is known to take Rita on a romantic trip to the shooting range for some friendly pistol competition between the two of them. (We won't mention which is the better shot.) He always enjoys getting together with the men of Union City and says he feels blessed to see the growth of our men and is thrilled to see his dream of a vibrant, challenging men's ministry experiencing so much success.

Jessica Lynn
Custodian

Our congregation is greatly blessed with wonderful, humble servants, among whom Jessica shines. Jessica and her Husband, Michael (a deacon at Union City) have three sons who have our senior minister (and most of the congregation) wrapped around their fingers. Jessica & Michael are graduates of Kentucky Christian University and are wonderful examples of faithful Christians.

The congregation is blessed in many ways by this couple who are very gifted vocalists, often sharing their talents in special music during our services. Michael also serves as head of Union City's Media Ministry, and oversees all technology projects in the congregation. Under Mike's direction, Union City employs numerous methods of technology, including a campus wide high speed wireless network and advanced projection capabilities in our worship area and fellowship hall (currently housing our Jr. Church). Jessica faithfully keeps our facilities in spotless condition and helps to create a warm, safe and inviting environment for everyone through her efforts.
